“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?” –Martin Luther King, Jr

We live in a culture that prizes fame and fortune over contribution and service, so it’s understandable that many people are driven to achieve conventional success. We too are driven, in part, by the desire for money and status. These accomplishments are necessary to achieving our goals of bettering our communities. But these accomplishments are not our purpose- here at CCB – Community is our Middle Name. For almost 100 years, we have existed to CONNECT community, bank, and member resources and opportunities to improve the quality of living, working, and raising families in the areas we serve.

The challenge is that doing work that matters is not easy and requires resilience. Working for the betterment of a community means most days are often exhausting, because we work extemely hard for people, and those people have no idea what it is like to navigate the banking industry.

This industry is the most highly regulated in the world and our keeping our traditional business model means we do not have the same tools in our toolbelt as others. Embracing this is sometimes difficult for our team, but we must remember that this is our purpose. Choosing a career that serves what the world needs instead of chasing profits is a great and worthwhile endeavor. Make no mistake, the world needs community banks – what we do matters!

“Try not to become a man of success. Rather become a man of value.” –Albert Einstein
